Grouping 281 day branches into the three trine (Samhap) sets

Compatibility pays close attention to whether two people's day branches (日支) form a trine (三合) or a clash (沖). The trine groups split the twelve branches into four sets of three — the Fire set (In, O, Sul), Metal set (Sa, Yu, Chuk), Water set (Sin, Ja, Jin), and Wood set (Hae, Myo, Mi). We counted the day branches of 281 Korean singers, actors and K-pop idols whose birthdays we could confirm into these four sets. Perfectly even would be 70.25 people per set.

This is a statistic, not a reading of you. A 1.37-fold gap across 281 people does not mean the Fire set favors a career in entertainment, or that the Wood set is unlucky for compatibility. A sample this size can spread that far by chance alone — we report what we counted and attach no reason to it.

After the trine sets, the six harmony pairs — do they group the same way?

Trine sets (Samhap) are not the only way compatibility reading groups the twelve branches. Six Harmony (Yukhap) pairs them up two at a time into six fixed pairs instead — Rat-Ox, Tiger-Pig, Rabbit-Dog, Dragon-Rooster, Snake-Monkey, Horse-Goat. These six pairs are a fixed classical table, set regardless of any sample size.

So we first compared the pairings themselves — of the six Yukhap pairs, does either branch in a pair ever belong to the «same» Samhap set (Fire, Metal, Water, Wood) as its partner? Checking directly, all six pairs (6/6) land in different Samhap sets — Samhap and Yukhap simply do not group branches the same way. This is a fact about the two classification systems themselves, independent of the 281 people.

We then regrouped the same 281 people's day branches by the six Yukhap pairs and added up the counts. Perfectly even would be 46.8 people per pair.

This too is a statistic, not a reading of you. We attach no reason to the 1.34-fold gap either. "The pairs never overlap (6/6)" is a fixed fact of the system itself; "pair sizes differ (1.34x)" is a number that comes from this 281-person sample — we kept these two separate so they are not read as the same kind of claim.
