Why an Astrology Report Costs $0.99, Not $21: Calculation vs. AI Pricing

Two prices exist for the same astrology report on KLifeMap.AI: $21 if you pay per report, and $0.99 if you first add $10 to a balance and draw it down from there. Compatibility (synastry) works the same way — $36 per report, or $2.99 from a topped-up balance. Neither number is a discount. They are two different ways of paying for a report whose actual production cost is close to zero, and the reason is the calculation behind it, not a sale.
The two prices, side by side
| Pay per report | Pay from a $10 balance | |
|---|---|---|
| Astrology Deep Report (Annual Profection) | $21 | $0.99 per report |
| Astrology Synastry (compatibility) | $36 | $2.99 per report |
You can add $5, $10, or $20 to your balance. At the $10 tier, the system draws down $0.99 per Deep Report and $2.99 per Synastry reading until the balance runs out. For reference only — not a real exchange rate — we show the won figures at a fixed $1 = ₩1,000, so the numbers stay easy to compare; it isn't tied to the market rate and won't move when the market rate does.
Why $0.99 doesn't lose money: it's arithmetic, not AI
The reason this is possible is structural, not promotional. Our BaZi (Four Pillars) readings call an AI model (Gemini) to write the interpretation — every single report costs us money to generate, because a language model has to run. Our astrology engine does not. Ephemeris positions, house cusps, planetary aspects, dignities, and annual profections are produced entirely by deterministic astronomical and mathematical formulas in code — there is no AI call anywhere in that path. We checked the astrology engine's source directly before writing this: zero calls to any AI API.
That difference is the entire reason the price can fall this far. A BaZi report sold at $0.99 would lose money on every sale, because each one burns real API cost. An astrology report sold at $0.99 does not, because the marginal cost of producing one more report is, for practical purposes, zero — it's the same kind of cost as running a calculator twice.
Why a balance instead of charging $0.99 directly
If we charged $0.99 per transaction through a card or PayPal, the payment processor's fixed per-transaction fee would eat a large share of that $0.99 — small one-off charges are inefficient to process. Topping up $10 once and spending it down in $0.99 or $2.99 increments means the processing fee is paid once per $10, not once per report. This is the same reason other prepaid-credit products in this space work the same way — it isn't a trick, it's how small-ticket digital goods are usually sold without the processor eating the margin.
What the Deep Report actually contains
The Deep Report is our Annual Profection reading — the ancient technique of counting one house forward from your Ascendant for every year you've lived, which tells you which house, and which planet (the "lord of the year"), is the dominant theme for your current year. We calculate your profected house directly from your birth chart and your exact age, the same counting method the classical sources describe. If you want the mechanics first, see our article on what profection is; your own chart is free to generate at astro.html.
What Synastry includes
The Synastry report compares two birth charts — something our free chart page does not do at all, since that page only reads one person's chart. As of October 2026, a Synastry purchase also includes a BaZi (Four Pillars) compatibility reading for the same two people, delivered as a separate match using the same birth data — two different traditions answering the same question independently, so you can see where they agree and where they don't. It does not include the AI-written BaZi report, since that step calls a paid AI model and the free engine match already states the result of the match. You can start a synastry reading at astro-synastry.html.
The honest version of "why so cheap"
We're not running a promotion here, and this isn't a special sale that expires. The gap between $21 and $0.99 — or $36 and $2.99 — reflects what each report actually costs us to produce, and we'd rather tell you which number is the "real" low-cost figure than leave you guessing which price is the gimmick. If you only ever want one report, the single-purchase price is simpler. If you're comparing years, or comparing multiple pairings, the balance is where the arithmetic works in your favor — and now you know why.
